OSAWATOMIE – The Osawatomie High School Trojans will celebrate homecoming Friday night with a home football game against the Iola Mustangs. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Lynn Dickey stadium.

Coronation of the king and queen will take place at halftime. Queen candidates are Rachel England, Sophia Johnson, Verlene Johnson-Hice and Madison Lagasse. King candidates are Marc Chaplin, Christian Aden, Tony Newman and Kyle Oliver.

RACHEL ENGLAND

Rachel is the daughter of Brad and Stacy England. She is a member of the Science Club, FFA, FCCLA, KAY’s, Art Club, SADD, senior class representative of Student Council, a member of the volleyball team, the basketball team, Calling all Girls, a member of the National Honor Society, has earned her CNA license, and attends the Lighthouse Church of Paola. After graduation, Rachel plans on attending Pittsburg State University completing her nursing degree with hopes of working as a pediatric nurse.

MARC CHAPLIN

Marc is the son of Richard and Wanutsonan Chaplin. He is a senior class representative of Student Council, a member of the football team, the swim team, the track team, a member of the National Honor Society, Singers, and performs in the OHS musical. After graduation, Marc plans on attending a community college while deciding on his major then transferring to Pittsburg State University to complete his bachelor’s degree.

SOPHIA JOHNSON

Sophia is the daughter of Jeremy and Jennifer Johnson. She is the president of Student Council, co-captain of the Dazzlers team, a member of the Science Club, president of the National Honor Society, secretary of Calling All Girls, a member of the volleyball team, the basketball team, the track team, is currently working on her CNA license, and is a member of the Church of Nazarene in Garnett. After graduation, Sophia plans on attending Emporia State University to complete her nursing degree with hopes of becoming an emergency room nurse.

CHRISTIAN ADEN

Christian is the son of Bret and Jackie Glendening and the late Wayne J. Aden. He is a member of the football team, the basketball team, the golf team, and the OHS Band. Christian is in the Delayed Entry Program with the U. S. Army, leaving for boot camp in July 2019, training to be an airborne infantryman with hopes of moving up the ranks within the Army and becoming a U.S. Ranger.

VERLENE JOHNSON-HICE

Verlene is the daughter of Bobby Hice and Renee Johnson. She is a member of the Science Club, KAY’s, the basketball team, the softball team, and is currently working on her CNA license. After graduation, Verlene plans on attending a four-year university to complete her nursing degree and become the first person in her family to graduate high school and attend college with hopes of becoming a pediatric nurse.

TONY NEWMAN

Tony is the son of Bobby Paulsen and Wendy McCoy. He is a member of the FFA Club and currently works at K & T Auto in Osawatomie. Tony is in the Delayed Entry Program with the U.S. Marine Corp, reporting for boot camp in July 2019 and training to become an aviation mechanic.

MADISON LAGASSE

Madison is the daughter of Eric and Sharon Lagasse. She is president of the Senior Class, co-captain of the Dazzlers team, the volleyball team, the basketball team, National Honor Society, co-president of Sub Debs, a member of the American Quarter Horse Youth Association and has earned her CNA license. After graduation, Madison plans on attending the University of Kansas to complete her bachelor of science in nursing with hopes of working as an orthopedic nurse in a private practice or clinic.

KYLE OLIVER

Kyle is the son of Brad and Tiffani Oliver. He is a member of the football team and works for Shay Homes. After graduation, Kyle plans on studying pre-engineering at Emporia State University then transferring to the University of Kansas to study civil engineering with hopes of becoming a construction engineer for a large construction company.
