Local small business owners can learn how to improve their social media presence and boost sales at two upcoming classes offered in Hilo.
“How to Develop a Social Media Marketing Plan” will be held on Friday, Oct. 26, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Hawai‘i Innovation Center at Hilo (HICH) located at 117 Keawe Street.
The second social media class, “Instagram for Business 101,” will be held on Friday, Nov. 2, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the same location.
The first class will teach participants how to create an effective online marketing plan using key elements that create successful social media campaigns. Participants will also learn how to tailor marketing approaches to each social media platform and take advantage of the upcoming holiday season.
“As with any part of business, implementing a social media marketing plan requires having a strategy,” said Denise Laitinen, class instructor and an award-winning social media trainer. “Many times business owners don’t know where to start when it comes to marketing their business online or they go about it the wrong way and wind up frustrated with ineffective results. By implementing an effective social media marketing plan, they’re able to reach new audiences and increase sales.”
The second class, “Instagram for Business 101,” will introduce five key steps to use Instagram for business promotion and marketing campaigns. Participants will learn how to effectively use hashtags, optimize their business profile and drive traffic to their website.
The fee to attend each class is $40. Registration is available online.
Laitinen is the owner of DLC Hawai‘i Media and was recently named the 2018 Small Business Administration Advocate for Media and Journalism in Hawai‘i County. She is an experienced public speaker, social media trainer and writer, and has taught dozens of social media classes across Hawai‘i at the university level and for corporate clients.
