Story Time on The Green

Katy Budget Books, 2450 Fry Road, will host two Create Your Own Superhero Parties for ages kindergarten through fourth grade on June 17 and June 20. Friendship Changes the World
The Brookwood Chapel in Brookshire will host Friendship Changes the World, hosted by The Houston Bronze Ensemble Inc. and The Brookwood Community on Saturday, June 22, starting at 7 p.m. Join The Brookwood Handbell Ensemble and Houston Bronze Ensemble for a concert celebrating the friendships formed between these two groups. Each ensemble will perform individually and together. One selection performed will be a piece commissioned from Kathleen Wissinger by Houston Bronze for the two ensembles to play together. Stop the Bleed
The Westlake Volunteer Fire Department will offer Stop the Bleed classes from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. June 22. The free class is designed for individuals with limited or no medical training who are interested in learning life-saving skills in the event of an emergency such as a cardiac arrest, severe bleeding, shooting, allergic reaction and for overall safety. Butterfly garden grand opening
Friends of Willow Fork Park will host a grand opening on June 22 from 9-10 a.m. of its Butterfly Garden. The free program will feature Diane Russell of the Coastal Prairie Chapter, Texas Master Naturalist, talking about creating a garden as a place of beauty as well as a restaurant and nursery for butterflies and pollinators. Take a tour of the garden and learn the key elements that you might use in building a backyard butterfly garden. The City of Katy will host a Freedom Celebration on the Fourth of July.
