Over the last two days, a viral Youtube video is newsjacking the election hype train with an announcement of a celebrity presidential run.
#RunTomRun, a slick teaser trailer touts the candidacy of Tom Cruise for 2020 – and the internet hasn’t so much as blinked. In 2019 anything is possible.
It’s already clocked up 126,000 views in about a day and a half, and the trend looks to have legs.
The 2-minute clip embedded at http://www.runtomrun.com stars actor and Cruise-impersonator Miles Fisher, who has co-written this collaboration with independent editor and director Stephen Vitale.
Backed by town hall meeting and press-shot styled photos on a background of stars and stripes – and complete with an email signup form on the homepage – it almost seems plausible. There’s even a catchy campaign slogan: “America, you complete me!”
On track for a milly
